ADVISORY ON SWINE FLU CASES IN INDIA
Filipinos travelling to India are advised to take the necessary precautions by avoiding crowded places and refraining from going to states in India with high cases of H1N1 infection.
Whenever possible, travel to India should be avoided or postponed until the situation has normalized, especially for young children, old people or those whose immune system has been compromised.
As of 19 March 2015, there were 1,809 reported deaths across India as a result of the H1N1 virus. The number of people infected with the virus, on the other hand, has reached 31,766.
According to reports, the current strain of the Indian H1N1 virus is more virulent compared to the previous strain as it has already undergone mutations. The number of infections, however, is expected to decline in the coming weeks due to the onset of the hot season. END
