Apostille Convention on Authentication of Documents Takes Effect in the Philippines on 14 May 2019
The Philippine Embassy wishes to inform the public that it will no longer authenticate documents executed in and bearing the Apostille seal of Switzerland and Liechtenstein beginning 14 May 2019.
The Embassy, however, will continue legalize the documents with Apostilles issued in Switzerland and Liechtenstein before 14 May 2019.
An Apostille is a certificate that authenticates the origin of a public document. It is issued by a country that is party to the Apostille convention to be used in another country which is also a party to the Convention.
The Apostille Convention entered into force for the Philippines on 14 May 2019. The Philippine Apostille Certificate will be issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila and not by the Embassy.
