The Cultural Diplomacy Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Office of Strategic Communication and Research is organizing Diskubre, an immersion tour for second-generation Filipinos and young foreign-born Filipinos to promote deeper appreciation of the Filipino heritage, and a means of giving back to the motherland, the Philippines.
Diskubre tour will be held from 3-13 January 2020 in Manila and Bicol. It is being organized in cooperation with the Department of Tourism and other agencies and/or local government units. The tour is open to all Filipinos and persons with Filipino heritage aged 18-40 years old. Younger participants are allowed provided they are accompanied by their parents throughout the tour. Would be participants are expected to document their trip through social media, blog, or videos featuring the sights and their experiences, and be prepared for activities such as hiking, swimming, biking, and walking.Diskubre tour will involve immersion themes including one or a combination of nature and habitat preservation; sustainable farming and cultural exchange; fisher folk community integration; women and children issues; micro-small-medium enterprises (MSMEs) promoting Philippine products; indigenous people and traditional customs. The detailed tour program and package conditions will be announced in due course.
Only twenty (20) slots are available for the participants, who are responsible for their own airfare, hotel accommodations, meals, land arrangement, ground transportation, insurance and other incidental expenses outside of the tour program.
