14 March 2012- A documentary on the projects and activities of Island Kids Philippines entitled “Informationsabend” was presented at Calvinhaus in the City of Berne on 14 March 2012. The event was attended by more than 100 people, majority of whom were Swiss nationals.
IKP is a private charity set up in 2007 by Mr. Kellenberger, a Swiss national and former policeman, to educate street children and collectors in the dumpsite in Cagayan de Oro affected by extreme poverty, and provide them with a decent life. The event was more of a campaign to raise awareness on their needs. 

In the documentary, Mr. Kellenberger showed the activities of the foundation during the past year, such as provision of food, medical care and education, as well as the assistance the foundation extended to the victims of Typhoon Sendong.

For 2012, the foundation plans to construct an education centre for vocational and technical training for the children in Cagayan de Oro who cannot afford a college education. The centre is estimated to cost Php 10 million. A piece of land where the education centre will be built has already been purchased through the efforts of Mr. Kellenberger. 

During the event, photos of IKP children-beneficiaries taken by Mr. Tobias Dimmler, a friend of Mr. Kellenberger and a photography student at Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (Zhdk), a famous college for fine arts in Zürich, were also displayed. The photos of the children were made into a charity calendar in 2011 and were the subject of Mr. Dimmler’s exhibit on the walls of Bern Cathedral from 23 December 2011 to 14 January 2012. 

Mr. Dimmler will produce another calendar for 2013 entitled Projekt Lachfalten. The project, which captures the sunny personality of Filipinos even in the face of poverty, will feature the laugh lines in the faces of the people he photographed during his visit in Cagayan de Oro.
