19 June 2022, Lugano, Ticino – The Philippine Embassy in Berne, Switzerland led by Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Josephine M. Reynante joined the Filipino and Swiss community in Ticino in celebration of the 124th Proclamation of the Philippine Independence, the 65th Philippine-Swiss Diplomatic Relations and 161st Rizal Day.
Consul a.h. Margherita Maffeis-Natale together with the Filipino Community in Ticino led by Mr. Dante Gragasin organized the event held at the Capannone Pregassona, which was attended by more than 200 Filipinos and Swiss.
Guest of honor, Mr. Tiziano Galeazzi, Executive Councillor of the City of Lugano delivered his speech wherein he focused on the importance of Swiss-Philippine relations, history and shared values through the symbolism of the Philippine flag. The flags of the Philippines and the Republic and Canton of Ticino share the hues of blue and red in their flags.
Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Josephine M. Reynante and Consul a.h. Margherita Maffeis-Natale gave their respective remarks. The bright and warm relations were felt and it continued during cultural presentations that featured Filipino dances and songs.
As part of the event, the Embassy distributed bags containing Philippine goods (Philippine juices, beer, dried mangoes and banana chips) to the officials and members of the community attending the event.
