On 27 June 2023, the Philippine Embassy in Berne and the Philippine Missions to the United Nations and World Trade Organization in Geneva commemorated the 162nd Birth Anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal with a wreathlaying ceremony at Hotel Schweizerhof Bern and Spa.
PH Ambassador to Switzerland Bernard Faustino M. Dy and PH UN Permanent Representative Ambassador Evan P. Garcia led the ceremony. Officers, staff and family members of the Embassy and Missions witnessed the event.
The Hotel Schweizerhof holds special historical significance to the Philippines as it is here where Dr. Rizal stayed with his friend, fellow propagandist Maximo Viola, when they visited the Swiss capital in June 1887.
