The Philippine Embassy in Switzerland held Philippine Food Week on 6-10 February 2024 in partnership with local restaurant, Gross-Wabern, to celebrate Filipino cuisine in the Swiss capital.

The Embassy collaborated with Gross-Wabern on a 4-course Filipino dinner menu which featured starters such as lumpiang gulay (vegetable spring roll), ensaladang talong (aubergine salad with mango), and vegetable sinigang (tamarind-based sour soup). Diners, who came from cities all over Switzerland including Zürich, Luzern, and  Neuchâtel, were given a choice for their main dish: to savor all-time favorite beef kare-kare (beef stewed in peanut Sauce) or go vegetarian with crispy tofu sisig (fried tofu with spices).

Also available for guests to enjoy during Philippine Food Week were Philippine Spirits, Manille Liqueur de Calamansi, and Old Captain Rum of Destileria Limtuaco, as well as Red Horse Beer of San Miguel Brewery.

Asked about his collaboration on the Philippines, restaurant owner Hüssu Matur said that he wanted to know more about the country because it is a place that he has never been to and knows not enough about. He saw this project with the Embassy as an opportunity to learn about other cultures and foster friendship and exchanges. PH Ambassador to Switzerland Bernard Faustino M. Dy thanked the Gross-Wabern team for their eagerness and cooperation and expressed hope for more such collaborations in the future.
