PHLPOST goes to Swiss market
Philippine Postmaster General Josefina Dela Cruz met with members of the Filipino community in Switzerland on 24th May at the Philippine Embassy in Berne to promote the new Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) and its expanded services to better serve the Filipino people.
During her presentation, the Postmaster General briefed the community on the ongoing modernization efforts at PHLPost to improve and expand its services to cope with the rapid change of technology in the new digital market.

“PHLPost is re-engineering itself to be able to better serve the Filipino people, including Filipinos overseas. Apart from the traditional mail delivery, we have now gone into retail, money order, and insurance claim payment such as social pensions for indigent and senior citizens. And with the bilateral agreement it signed with the Swiss Postal Service on international postal payment services in 2012, it can also facilitate fund transfers/remittance through an instant pay-out system at competitive prices,” explained Dela Cruz.
PHLPost’s ongoing modernization and institutional reform has earned the agency a nomination under the People Management category of the World Mail Awards (MWA), the postal sector’s most prestigious international award giving body. Its entry “Re-engineering PHLPost” has been chosen as one of the two (2) finalists at the awarding ceremony to be held in June in Germany.
“Our nomination is a recognition of PHLPost’s efforts to strive for excellence and innovation to attain our vision of becoming a preferred universal delivery service provider in every Filipino community,” said Dela Cruz.
To date, PHLPost has signed twenty (20) bilateral agreements with countries across the globe to attain said objective. In Europe, it has bilateral agreements with Austria, Greece, Italy, Poland, Spain and Switzerland.
PHLPost’s corridor marketing in Switzerland is part of its global marketing efforts to introduce the new PHLPost to the Filipino community overseas, and regain the trust of the Filipino public, especially Filipinos overseas, after years of suffering from a bad public image due to perceived inefficiency and unreliability of the Philippine postal service.
In his concluding message to the attendees, Ambassador Leslie Baja said, “Let us support PHLPost in its ongoing efforts to improve its system to better serve the Filipino community. After all, it is our own postal service. Let us embrace it and help improve our economy by patronizing our own postal service.” END
