Filipinos overseas were accorded the right to vote in Philippine national elections under Republic Act 9189, as amended by Republic Act 10590, otherwise known as the Philippine Overseas Voting Act of 2013. Under the law, qualified overseas voters can vote for President, Vice President, Senators and Party-list Representatives.

Filipinos across Switzerland are encouraged to register either at the Philippine Consulate General in Geneva (for those residing in Geneva and Vaud) or at the Philippine Embassy in Berne (for the rest of the Filipinos in Switzerland) so they can vote in the 2016 and subsequent Philippine national elections. Registration, which started on 6th May 2014, will run up to 31st October 2015.
