Formed in 1962 as the University of the Philippines’ official choir, Korus has morphed into a musical force of national and world stature. And after more than five decades of performances, the group still continues to sizzle with their unique choreographed choral performances that have become their trademark.

Korus is ranked no. 1 in the world for Folk choral performance at the 2012 Festival Internacional de Cantonigros in Spain. The group is also the recipient of the 2012 Philippine Aliw Awards Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award and is one of the Ani ng Dangal Awardees recognized by the Philippine National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

As an internationally competitive performing group, Korus has perfected versatility in singing classical, folk, pop and Broadway musical genres with signature vibrant choreography. Under its artistic director and conductor, Professor Janet Sabas-Aracama, Korus performs “CHOR-EO-CAPELLA” (“CHORus CHOREOgraphed A CAPELLA”), choral works inspired by musical theatre concert style.

Korus’ performance in Bern is part of the European leg of the group’s world tour. Both Filipino and Swiss audience raved about the excellent performance of the group which was their second in Switzerland. The first was in Basel in 2012. END
