HSH Hereditary Prince Alois von und zu Liechtenstein and Philippine Ambassador Joselito A. Jimeno

Philippine Ambassador to Liechtenstein Joselito A. Jimeno presented his Letter of Credence to His Serene Highness Prince Alois of Liechtenstein on 11 December 2015. During the call, he informed HSH Prince Alois that the Philippines, strongly advocates the rule of law and said that upholding the rule of law becomes more imperative in the midst of currently evolving geopolitical landscape, especially in relation to maritime and territorial disputes among nations.

Ambassador Jimeno briefed the Prince on the ongoing negotiations between the Philippines and EFTA countries, which include Liechtenstein, on free trade agreement. Once signed, the FTA is expected to boost the flow of trade and commercial exchanges between the Philippines and EFTA countries.

Ambassador Jimeno earlier called on Liechtensteiner Foreign Minister Aurelia Frick. and briefed the Foreign Minister on the reform agenda of the Aquino administration, particularly the latter’s flagship program on good governance and anti-corruption. He also discussed current developments on the West Philippine Sea/South China Sea issue. Ambassador Jimeno also expressed his desire to see more investments from Liechtenstein into the Philippines.

Ambassador Jimeno with PH HonCon Alexander Ospelt

 While in Liechtenstein, Ambassador Jimeno also met with Philippine Honorary Consul Alexander Ospelt, Managing Director of Ospelt Food and Pet Food Group. They discussed the possibility of bringing Filipino trainees to Liechtenstein.  The principality has more job vacancies than its local populace and has to employ foreign workers, especially from neighboring countries of Austria, Germany, and Austria.

Ambassador Jimeno also mentioned about the possibility of cooperation, even on company-to-company level, on renewable energy and waste recycling for energy. END
