Starting 17 September, a restaurant located near the diplomatic quartier of Berne has dedicated all Saturday evenings to feature Filipino food in an all-you-can-eat buffet.

For the first evening, Restaurant Wittigkofen in Jupiterstrasse 15, Berne, Switzerland, featured Filipino dishes such as adobong manok (chicken stewed in vinegar, garlic, soy sauce, bay leaves, and peppercorns), kalderetang baka (spicy beef stew), pancit (sautéed noodles), lumpia (spring rolls) and shrimp curry.

The dishes, which were enjoyed by the patrons and Embassy guests present, were prepared by Filipina chef Sarah Banaag who migrated in Berne since 2004 at age 19.

Ms. Banaag, who currently works as an accountant for a Swiss company, likewise renders catering and baking services to various clients in Berne.  She partnered with the Restaurant Wittigkofen in the hope of bringing the tastes and flavors of Philippine dishes and desserts to the consciousness of the mainstream Swiss public.

Every Saturday, until April 2017, the restaurant and Ms. Banaag will feature a different set of menus to give the guests an opportunity to sample as many of the Filipino food dishes as possible.  ###
