Swiss-Filipina artist Tina Heiter opened her exhibit entitled, “New Expressions in Collage and Mixed Media” at the Galerie Am Schanzengraben in Zủrich on 21 September 2016.

Philippine Ambassador to Switzerland Joselito A. Jimeno, who was invited to the event as Guest of Honor, said in his inspirational message, “The collection of paintings exhibited today beautifully embodies Tina’s fascination for landscapes, cityscapes, and seascapes, as expressed in various seasons and moods through multimedia, which is as much of her own and the influence of other artists borders on impressionism and abstraction.”

“Tina’s works on display tonight chronicle her journey as an artist. They tell us about herself and how she sees the vistas around her,” added Ambassador Jimeno.

The event was attended by art enthusiasts from both the Swiss and Filipino communities. It was the second art exhibition by Ms. Heiter in recent years that the Embassy attended. The Embassy supports such activities in line with its objective of profiling Filipino talents in Switzerland and mainstreaming Filipino culture in the alpine country.

Ms. Heiter plans to do an exhibition in Manila in 2018. She will also be one of the feature artists in an art exhibition that will be held next year as part of the celebratory activities to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippine and Switzerland.

Ms. Heiter hails from Mindanao. She has a degree in Foreign Service and History. She discovered her love of art during her college days when she joined friends for a private tutorial in sketching and oil painting. Her love for art, however, did not fully blossom until she came to Switzerland. END
