Philippine Ambassador to Switzerland Joselito A. Jimeno met with Professor Emmanuel Tsesmelis, Principal Physicist and the Advisor of the Philippines at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), based in Geneva on 22 June 2017 to explore possible expansion of existing collaboration/cooperation between CERN and PH (previously with University of the Philippines) to other institutions and fields of expertise.

Professor Tsesmelis briefed the Ambassador about CERN and its missions. He also expressed hope for future cooperation between CERN and PH scientific community and suggested the creation of a physicists’ group from UP to join the CERN program.
The meeting agreed to explore the conclusion of a Cooperation Agreement between CERN and GPH which could provide the framework for cooperation between CERN and GPH with no financial obligations.
At the end of the meeting, the professor expressed his appreciation for the Embassy’s initiatives in renewing ties with CERN. END
