18 October 2017 - The Philippine Embassy in Berne screened “Kid Kulafu”, a film about the early years of the young Manny Pacquiao, the only eight division titlist in boxing,the greatest boxer the Philippines has produced.
The film traces back to thelife of young Manny when he lived on a barely sufficient food and trying to survive from one day to the next. At an early age, he discovered his strong liking for boxing. He was known with a name from a local liquor brand “Vino Kulafu”. The story goes on to show his boxing career that took him from the amateur circuits in the mountain provinces to the slums of the big city. His goal was to become a champion not only for himself and his family, but also for his country.

The film screening was attended by a hundred people, from the Diplomatic and Filipino communities in Bern and nearby cities. The event is one of the Embassy’s celebratory activities for the 60th Anniversary of Philippines-Switzerland Diplomatic Relations. END
