18 November 2017, Berne – The Philippine Embassy in Switzerland joined Island Kids Philippines Foundation in commemorating its 10th year anniversary event held in Heiliggeistkirche (Holy Ghost Church). In her remarks, Second Secretary and Consul Princess Tomas-Tayao congratulated the foundation on its achievements and activities, and thanked its founder, Mr. Thomas Kellenberger, for his dedication to helping the children of Cagayan de Oro (CDO).

Mr. Kellenberger is Swiss national and a former member of its police force. He established the Foundation ten (10) years ago after witnessing the plight of children in the dumpsite area of CDO during his visit. In his remarks, Mr. Kellenberger presented the achievements of his Foundation and thanked the donors in Switzerland for their support. He also shared the many activities of the Foundation, including supporting the education of the children, training on disaster preparedness and hospitalization support for the children living in the dumpsite of Cagayan de Oro, and livelihood seminars for the parents, which were undertaken with the support of partners such as the Department of Education, the Philippine National Red Cross, and the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
