Berne – The Philippine Embassy, in partnership with Samahang Pilipina-Berne, organized on 25 March 2018 a day-long, fun-filled activity entitled, Women’s Day Out: A Fitness Treat for Women, in celebration of the National Women’s Month.

The day kicked off with a fun run and walk which saw participants from various age groups and sizes get into the spirit of fun, playfulness, and friendship as they ran, walked and sightsaw along the famous River Aare to the finish line. Others got separated from the group, some took a short cut, and a few took the tram on their way back to the Embassy where they were treated to a healthy lunch of salads, smoothies, fruit juices, fruits and freshly baked bread.

After lunch, participants danced to endorphin-boosting Zumba, which at some point, caused motorists and passersby to stop and watch participants gyrate to Latin music under the cold but sunny Berne weather.

The day-long event aimed at raising awareness on the importance of exercise and good health, particularly among women who are preoccupied with their daily work routine to embrace a healthy and balanced lifestyle. It was also an opportunity to meet new friends, not only from the Filipino community, but also from the Bernese community. END
