opens the Business Forum
3 April 2018, Zurich – The Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACC), in collaboration with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC)-Geneva and the Philippine Embassy, organized a Business Forum with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo. The event was held at the Credit Suisse Forum St. Peter in Zurich on 28 March 2018.
DTI Undersecretary Rodolfo, along with Bureau of Investment (BOI) Executive Director Ms. Carmen Dichiosa, briefed the participants about the positive developments in the Philippine economy, the advantages of doing business in the Philippines, specific sectors in the Philippine economy such as manufacturing, and opportunities in the Philippine market. Undersecretary Rodolfo also called on the business community to take advantage of the opportunity that the recently ratified Free Trade Agreement between the Philippines and EFTA countries offers.
Minister and Consul General Maria Theresa S.M. Lazaro, Chargė d’Affaires, a.i. of the Philippine Embassy, also noted the positive developments in the Philippine economy, including the robust growth forecast for 2018 and 2019. She expressed hope that the Swiss business community will take advantage of these developments and invest in the country.
Officials of Testech Group and Ivoclar Vivadent, Inc., two companies with presence in the Philippines, shared their experiences in doing business in the country and underscored the attributes of the country’s labor force as the primary reason for their presence and expansion in the Philippines.
Dr. Urs Lustenberger, President of SACC and the Honorary Consul of the Philippines in Zurich, welcomed the participants from the Swiss business sector to the event. END
