Ambassador Denis Yap Lepatan graced the opening of the Asia Workshop held on 19 November 2018 in Zürich. He thanked the organizers, welcomed all participants in the event. He noted the growing number of Swiss leisure travelers and invited them to visit the Philippines, which has “something for everyone between the mountains and the seas and the sands and the beaches” and experience for themselves the hospitality of the Filipino people.

During the event, the Ambassador also gave short interviews to members of the press who were present and discussed developments in the Philippines, including on tourism.
Ms. Margarita Partricia Valdes, Tourism Director at the Department of Tourism Frankfurt Office which covered Switzerland, also invited the participants to visit the Philippines and watch the presentations on the Philippines by two (2) Swiss bloggers, Valeria and Adi, who are well known in Switzerland through their social media platform LittleCity.ch. She also invited all participants to visit the Philippine booth which has information on travels to the Philippines, including tourist spots, and have their photos taken with the Philippines’ white sand as backdrop.

In addition to the photo booth, DOT-Frankfurt also sponsored a drinks-mixing demonstration using Philippine liqueurs by Mr. Denis Barela.
The one-day Asia Workshop featured the Philippines as host country. It also featured Swiss travel agents specializing in selling Asian destinations. Among the participants in the event were Tourism Boards from Asian countries such as Korea, Macau and Thailand, as well as tour operators in Switzerland. The Department of Tourism-Frankfurt Office participated in the event which drew about 400 participants. END
