15 June 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Berne hosted the concert of Aleron, an all-male chorale group, in Berne.
Aleron rendered a selection of international as well as Philippine songs during the one-hour concert. Their powerful performance was witnessed and appreciated by around one hundred eighty (180) Filipinos and Swiss nationals who attended the event.
Aleron, which means “winged one” in Latin, started in 2006 as the alumni ensemble of the Ateneo de Manila High School Glee Club under the musical direction of Christopher Ong Arceo. Aleron has already made waves in the Philippine and international choral scenes by garnering top prizes in competitions in Manila (Philippines), Busan (South Korea), Takarazuka (Japan), Tours (France), and Mainhausen (Germany). It also has the distinction of being the first Filipino choir to perform a full Mass service at the historical Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France.
The Aleron Concert is the second of a two-part event at the Embassy held to commemorate the Proclamation of Philippine Independence. The first is the Flag Ceremony held in the morning of the same day, which was attended by around 300 Filipinos and Swiss friends of the Embassy. END
