The World Forum for Peace is organized annually by the Culture Ticino Network founded and headed by Mme. Maffeis. This year’s event is especially dedicated to peace in the Philippines. As an advocate for peace, Mme. Maffeis and her organization has been in the forefront of institutionalizing a feeding and educational program for children in Paombong, Province of Bulacan.
During the event, the Culture Ticino Network launched its 2020-2022 Program which includes the establishment of a Multi-Purpose Building in Paombong, Province of Bulacan.
In his presentation, the Philippine Ambassador, while recognizing the daunting challenges posed by the Fourth Industrial Revolution on developing countries including the Philippines, said that social protection measures remain high on the Philippine government’s agenda as may be gleaned from the promulgation of various laws and the implementation of attendant programs designed to address the needs of the people, especially those in the margins of society.
In parting, the Ambassador said that these measures, along with the spirit of “bayanihan” that has pervaded and withstood the test of time, “will carry us through the risks and challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Whether the Fourth Industrial Revolution will be the best of times or the worst of times, the Philippines has made up its mind. Philippine mores and values, culture and tradition cannot countenance leaving anybody behind.”
