14 February 2022 – Further Advisory No. 08-2022 and No. 09-2022 dated 7 and 11 February 2022, foreign nationals in Switzerland and Liechtenstein intending to visit the Philippines are informed of the following Resolutions based on the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Infectious Diseases, which govern their entry:

The Embassy reminds that concerned travellers that:

  1. All foreign nationals must be fully vaccinated with proof (with qualifications for children as specified under relevant IATF Resolutions);
  1. Should present a negative RT-PCR test taken within forty-eight (48) hours prior to the date and time of departure from the country of origin/first port of embarkation in a continuous travel to the Philippines, excluding lay-overs; and
  1. Must possess a travel insurance for COVID-19 treatment costs from reputed insurers, with a minimum coverage of USD 35,000.00 (or its equivalent in CHF) for the duration of their stay in the Philippines obtained prior to arrival in the Philippines

Per IATF Resolution 160D, which amended IATF Resolution 160B:

  1. Foreign nationals who can enter the Philippines visa-free for a maximum of 30 days stay under Executive Order (EO) 408 should present valid tickets for their return journey to the port of origin or next port of destination not later than thirty (30) days from date of arrival in the Philippines. Per IATF Resolution, 160D, foreign spouses and/or children of Filipino citizens and former Filipino citizens with Balikbayan Visa Privilege under Republic Act No. (RA) 9174 are exempted from this.
  1. Entry exemption document (EED) issued under existing IATF Resolutions is needed prior to travel to the Philippines by foreign nationals who are: a) covered by EO 408 intending to stay for longer than 30 days in the Philippines for purposes other than tourism: b) not qualified under the Balikbayan Visa Privilege (RA 9147), or c) required a visa to enter the Philippines;
  1. Foreign spouses and children of Filipino nationals who: a) are not nationals of EO 408 countries, whether or not travelling with the said Filipino citizen; or b) are from visa-required countries; or c) who are restricted nationals my enter the Philippines without the need for an EED, provided that they have been issued a 9(a) visa with the appropriate visa notation. The said foreign nationals are required to comply with the provisions of Section A(1)(c) to A(1)(h);
  1. Once admitted into the country, they are no longer required to observe facility-based quarantine but shall self-monitor for any sign or symptom for seven (7) days with the first-day being the date of arrival. However, they are required to report to the local government unit (LGU) of their destination should they manifest any symptoms; and
  1. Foreign nationals who are found not compliant with the condition set forth in Section A(3) of IATF Resolution 160B as amended by 160D shall be required to undergo facility-based quarantine until the release of their negative RT-PCR test taken on the fifth (5th) day. After which, they shall be required to undergo home quarantine until their fourteenth (14th) day, with the date of arrival being their first (1st) day. The LGU of destination and their respective Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams are tasked to monitor those arriving passengers undergoing home quarantine.

Furthermore, please be reminded that:

  • Foreign nationals entering the Philippines for purposes other than tourism must coordinate their entry and issuance of EED must go through the established endorsement process thru the concerned Philippine National Government Agency.
  • Foreign nationals entering visa free visa free (except for those entering the Philippines and availing themselves of the Balikbayan Visa Privilege) are encouraged to avail themselves of the visa-free privilege for 30-days only and possess a return ticket not later than 30-days from arrival in the Philippines. Otherwise, an EED or visa (as appropriate) is required to enter the Philippines.
  • The Embassy does not endorse any insurance company for purposes of travel to the Philippines. Please inquire with local Swiss insurance companies regarding the international medical/health coverage for Covid-19.
