REMINDERS ON THE VISA-FREE ENTRY OF FOREIGN NATIONALS UNDER EXECUTIVE ORDER 408
PER RESOLUTION 160B DATED 03 FEBRUARY 2022 OF
THE INTER-AGENCY TASK FORCE (IATF) FOR THE MANAGEMEGEMENT OF EMERGING AND INFECTIOUS DISEASES
11 February 2022 – the Embassy reminds foreign nationals in Switzerland and Liechtenstein who intends to visit the Philippines and avail themselves of the visa-free entry privilege upon entry must comply with the six (6) conditions stated in the IATF Resolution No. 16B, including:
- Full vaccination status with proof;
- A negative RT-PCR test taken within forty-eight (48) hours prior to the date and time of departure from the country of origin/first port of embarkation in a continuous travel to the Philippines, excluding lay-overs;
- With valid tickets for their return journey to the port of origin or next port of destination not later than thirty (30) days from date of arrival in the Philippines;
- A travel insurance for COVID-19 treatment costs from reputed insurers, with a minimum coverage of USD 35,000.00 (or its equivalent in CHF) for the duration of their stay in the Philippines obtained prior to arrival in the Philippines
The Embassy reiterates that non-compliance in any of the said (6) condition may be ground for exclusion by the Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI), which has the sole mandate regarding the entry into and exit from the Philippines of all nationals. The BI has the final decision on who will be admitted into the country regardless of the visa status of the traveller.
The concerned foreign nationals are encouraged to purchase a ticket for a maximum of 30-days stay in the country, re-bookable.
Please carefully read the resolution, which can be viewed from: https://mirror.officialgazette.gov.ph/downloads/2022/02feb/20220203-RESO-160B-RRD.pdf and/or https://bernepe.dfa.gov.ph/advisories/1250-public-advisory-no-08-2021-updated-iatf-resolutions-of-03-february-2022-on-the-recognition-of-covid-19-certificate-and-new-entry-testing-and-quarantine-protocols-for-entry-into-the-philippines.
The Embassy reiterates the following:
- Switzerland and Liechtenstein are among the non-visa required countries under EO 408 which nationals can stay for a maximum stay of 30 days. The list of countries which nationals can enter the Philippines visa-free for a maximum stay of 30 days under Executive Order (EO) 408 is included in the Resolution 160B.
- At present, the Embassy only issues visa to foreign nationals who have been issued an Entry Exemption Document (EED) by the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs.
- Foreign nationals covered by EO 408 who will visit the Philippines for tourism purposes are enjoined to enter the Philippines by availing themselves of the visa-free privilege at the port of entry for a maximum stay of 30-days. If the said foreign national would extend their stay while already in the Philippines, they have to contact the BI directly.
- All inbound travelers shall register with the One Health Pass (https://www.onehealthpass.com.ph/) prior to arrival in the Philippines.
- The Embassy does not endorse any insurance company for purposes of travel to the Philippines. Please inquire with local Swiss insurance companies regarding the international medical/health coverage for Covid-19.
- The entry and health regulations concerning Filipino nationals are covered by the IATF Resolution 160A (https://mirror.officialgazette.gov.ph/downloads/2022/02feb/20220203-RESO-160A-RRD.pdf).
- The IATF regularly assesses, determines, and decides on the entry requirements and health measures to be placed in view of the current epidemiological situation, not the Philippine Embassy.
